Canadian Department of Transport Proposes Amending the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)

On April 1, 2017, Transport Canada published proposed amendments to the existing TDG Regulations. The amendments focus on marine requirements in order to align with CFTR (Cargo, Fumigation and Tackle Regulations) and 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).

Amendments include changing the definition of “short-run ferry”, changing the transport of gasoline and propane via passenger-carrying ships, and looking into the current transport of UN 3156, COMPRESSED GAS, OXIDIZING, N.O.S. as it is currently forbidden on ships with more than 25 passengers.

Interested persons may make representations concerning the proposed Regulations within 30 days. All such representations must be in writing and cite the Canada Gazette, Part I, and the date of publication of this notice.
