The Biocides Regulation is now in force in Canada

The Biocides Regulations came into force on May 31, 2025.  This means that now, all new surface disinfectant and sanitizer submissions must be filed under the new regulations administered by Health Canada’s NNHPD.

Registrants of DIN and PCP registered surface disinfectants and sanitizers will have four years to transition products to the new regulations.

Manufacturers and importers of food contact sanitizers will have six years to register products under the new regulations. There are several transition pathways to consider to bring your products into compliance with the new regulations.

The market authorization database will not launch next week, and is still being developed by NNHPD.  Stakeholders will be sent an email from NNHPD early next week providing links to all relevant forms and guidance.

Additionally, the biocide monograph is now live and can be accessed here. Dell Tech was actively engaged with our Industry Association in the development this monograph and it includes a surface sanitizer for use in food premises section.

Dell Tech has just launched our webinar on the Biocide Regulations:
