WHMIS 2015 Compliance Official Deadline Extension

Official notice that the WHMIS 2015 deadline has been extended was published this morning.

This notice includes a discussion for the proposal to amend the Hazardous Products Regulations (WHMIS 2015) to restore the use of prescribed concentration ranges in Section 3 of an SDS without the need for a HMIRA Claim for Exemption (trade secret) Registration.

The proposed amendments to restore prescribed concentration ranges to the Hazardous Products Regulations (WHMIS 2015) is expected to be published in summer 2017.

The change to compliance deadline also extends the period where either WHMIS 1988 or WHMIS 2015 Labels and Safety Data Sheets may be used.

Trade Secrets claims for a chemical identity or CAS# will still need a HMIRA Claim for Exemption Registration.
